K’ARTS 제2회 국제작곡콩쿨 음악제를 개최하며

한국예술종합학교(총장 김대진, 이하 한예종)가 주최하고 한국문화체육관광부가 후원하는 제 2회 K’ARTS국제작곡콩쿨이 전통예술원(원장 임준희)의 한류사업 “K-WAVE”의 일환으로  2022년 9월에 개최된다.

이 국제작곡콩쿠르는 한국전통음악을 토대로 동·서양 악기를 접목한 다양한 창작곡을 발굴하여 한국 전통음악의 세계무대 진출을 위한 활로를 개척하고 국제적 교류의 활성화 및 글로벌 네트워크 구축을 목적으로 기획되었다. 이러한 국악기를 포함하는 국제작곡콩쿨 개최를 통해 현시대에 맞게 변화를 꾀하며 세계적으로 “한국전통악기의 현대적 수용”을 추구하기 위함이다.

작년 제1회 K’ARTS 국제작곡콩쿨 지원현황은 총 42명으로 국내 29명, 국외 13명이었으며, 해외는 스페인(1), 몽골(1), 미국(6), 필리핀(1), 인도네시아(1), 우즈베키스탄(1), 영국(1), 캐나다(1)이다. 1차 심사에서 총 7명의 최종 본선진출자를 선정하여 공연을 통한 본선 실연심사를 거쳐 1등, 2등, 3등, 장려상 2인 등 총 5명에게 시상되었다. 대상은 미국 하와이 대학교 박사과정 학생인 Andrew Filson이 수상하였다. 그 외 4명 수상자는 국내의 서양(2인) 및 국악(2인) 전공 작곡가들이었다. 이와 같은 혼합편성 구성의 국제작곡콩쿨은 중국, 일본등에서 자국의 전통악기와 서양악기를 접목 다양한 콩쿨의 형태로 이미 오래전부터 개최되어 오고 있다.

올해 제2회 K’ARTS 국제작곡 콩쿨은 나이, 국적 제한 없이 국내외 음악인들이 도전할 수 있으며, 발표되지 않은 8분내외의 초연곡으로 최소한 국악기 1개를 포함한 전통악기와 서양악기를 결합한 독주~3중주이내의 실내악곡이다. (구체적 사항은 모집요강에 명시되어 있다).

이번 국제작곡콩쿨의 예술감독을 맡은 이귀숙(한국음악작곡과 교수)은 “한국전통악기와 서양악기와의 조합으로 이루어진 새로운 장르의 음악을 통해 한국의 전통악기가 세계의 서양악기와 결합하여 새로운 장르의 음악을 탄생시키고, 다문화 간 음악적 교류로 국가 간의 경계를 넘어 소통의 장이 되며, 또한 세계 음악인들과 네트워크를 형성하여 활발한 음악적 교류를 이루기 위한 것이 궁극적 목표이고, 더 나아가 세계적으로 한국전통음악의 우수성과 한국전통문화의 위상을 높이는 계기가 마련될 것이다.“라고 언급하였다.

“The K’ARTS International Composition Competition aims to discover a variety of creative works that combine Eastern and Western instruments based on traditional Korean music, pioneering the way for traditional Korean music to enter the world stage. It is designed to promote international exchange and build a global network. We look forward to active participation of many composers who are interested in traditional Korean music.

| Eligibility |

The competition is open to contestants of all nationalities and countries. The winners in 2021 are not eligible to apply.

1. New works which have never been previously premiered

2. Works of any style, aesthetic form, and notation will be considered. 3. The submitted work should be around eight minutes in duration (less than nine minutes). 4. The instrumentation of works must be a chamber music for one to three players. It must

include at least one traditional Korean instrument. You can select one of each of following

instruments: Korean instruments: Dsegnum, P, Haegeum, Gayageum (12, 18. or 25 stringed, Geomungs, Ajeng

[so-ajang or doe-eng), Saenghwang, Percussion finx Jangu Jing Kwaonggwart Sor-buk, and etc./one player can play only up to five instruments)

Western instruments Flute, B Clarinet. Oboe, Bastoon, Violin, Viola, Colo, Pano, Percussion

fone player can play only up to five instruments) Special instruments (such as ato Pute and E clarinet, and etc, and keyboard

percussion (such as marimba, vibraphone, glockenspel, and etc) cannot be used

1. The selected works will be performed at the K’ARTS International Music Festival.

2. Prize First Prize: 4,000,000 KRW

Second Prize: Third Prize: 3,000,000 KRW 2,000,000 KRW

Fourth and Fifth Prize: 1,000,000 KRW
